Epic Games files law suit against Apple & Google

Epic Games has sued both the major player in smartphone OS market Apple and Google for taking down Fortnite from their respective app stores.

Epic Games has sued both the major player in smartphone OS market Apple and Google for taking down Fortnite from their respective app stores on Thursday i.e. 13th August. This gave rise to the dispute between the companies that has been brewing over the recent weeks.

According to Apple App Store policy, states that apps must offer billing through Apple and pay them 30% of revenue.

Where as Epic Games began to offer customers a way to directly buy items for Fortnite on this Thursday so as they could circumvent the fees. And just hours later, Apple took action by pulling the app off their App Store and Google did the same soon after.

Epic Games told their customers on Thursday that they would begin offering a direct purchase plan for items in Fortnite and rather than paying fees to Apple and Google, they would pass on the savings to their customers. Epic Games offered discounts of approximately 20% through its service.
