Ahead of the ‘Wonderlust’ launch event, the weight and measurements of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro have been leaked. The details of the upcoming iPhone 15 series have been surfacing online for the past few months, including colour options, internal specifications, and now, the weight and measurements.
According to a report, the iPhone 15 is expected to have dimensions of 147.6×71.6×7.8mm and a weight of 171g. These measurements are almost identical to its predecessor, the iPhone 14, which had dimensions of 146.7×71.5×7.8mm and weighed 172g. The report also suggests that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will use the same 6013 T6 aluminium material for the chassis as the 2022 model.
The Pro models, however, might see a more significant difference in weight. The report claims that the iPhone 15 Pro will have dimensions of 146.6×70.6×8.25mm and weigh 188g, while last year’s iPhone 14 Pro had dimensions of 147.5×71.5×7.85mm and weighed 206g. This indicates an approximate weight reduction of 8.73 percent for the new model.
Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was unveiled last year with dimensions of 160.7×77.6×7.85mm and a weight of 240g, is expected to be succeeded by a model weighing 221g with dimensions of 159.9×76.7×8.25mm. This suggests that Apple’s top model will be about 7.91 percent lighter than last year’s Pro Max model.
The report also hints at a switch to a titanium chassis for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models instead of the stainless steel used in last year’s models, making them lighter and more durable this year.
Last month, it was speculated that due to this switch to titanium, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would weigh around 191g and 221g respectively. Although this reduction in weight is minimal and these models will still be heavier than the regular models, it could offset the weight of a protective case on these models.
