Facebook has launched a similar application like TikTok called BARS for rappers. The app is exclusively made for bidding rappers to provide them a platform where they can create their own rap videos. The app has been developed by Facebook’s New Product Experimentation (NPE) and RD Team.
Hip-Hop songwriter and the Community Manager of BARS app DJ Iyer said in a blog post, “I know access to high-priced recording studios and production equipment can be limited for aspiring rappers. On top of that, the global pandemic shut down live performances where we often create and share our work. So, along with a group of aspiring rappers, we’ve been building BARS: a place for aspiring rappers to create and share their art.”
Currently, BARS app is available for only small number of iOS users in the United States of America. However, interested users can sign up for the waitlist in the app.
As the TikTok app got banned in India last year, BARS app may become an alternative of TikTok in India. It is another thing that BARS app focuses on music content, rather then on lip-sing or acting.
