Rohit Sharma<\/strong> has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the No.1 ODI batter in the world<\/strong> for the first time in his career<\/strong>, according to the latest ICC ODI rankings<\/strong> released on Wednesday<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

At 38 years and 182 days<\/strong>, Rohit is now one of the oldest players<\/strong> ever to reach the top spot. He dethroned his teammate and ODI captain Shubman Gill<\/strong>, who slipped to third place<\/strong> after the latest update.<\/p>\n

The veteran opener\u2019s recent form against Australia<\/strong> sealed the deal \u2014 he amassed 202 runs in three matches<\/strong> at an average of 101<\/strong>, including an unbeaten century<\/strong> in the series finale, which also earned him the Player of the Series award<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rohit currently holds 781 rating points<\/strong>, staying 17 points ahead<\/strong> of Afghanistan\u2019s Ibrahim Zadran (764)<\/strong>, who sits second. Meanwhile, Gill<\/strong> dropped to 745 points<\/strong>, while Virat Kohli<\/strong> stands sixth<\/strong> with 725 points<\/strong> after scoring a half-century in the third ODI.<\/p>\n

With this feat, Rohit joins the elite list of Indian cricketers \u2014 Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill<\/strong> \u2014 to have topped the ICC ODI batting rankings.<\/p>\n
