The Supreme Court of India on Thursday refused to urgently list a plea demanding the cancellation of the highly anticipated IND vs PAK clash at the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for Sunday, September 14, at the Dubai International Stadium.<\/p>\n
The petition, filed by four law students led by Urvashi Jain, claimed that organising the match in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack sends an \u201cinconsistent message.\u201d The plea sought an immediate halt to the tie between the arch-rivals.<\/p>\n
The matter was mentioned before Justices J K Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi, who observed there was no urgency in the matter and that the court could not intervene just days before the scheduled game. \u201cMatch is this Sunday? What can we do about that? Let it be. Match should go on,\u201d the judges remarked.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the BCCI clarified that it follows the policy set by the Central Government, which allows India to play Pakistan in multi-nation tournaments but not in bilateral series. \u201cSo far as the BCCI\u2019s view is concerned, we have to follow whatever the central government formalises. Recently, our policy clearly stated there are no restrictions imposed on India playing against any country in multinational tournaments,\u201d said BCCI secretary Jay Shah.<\/p>\n
