The ICC has named the 26 match officials for the first round of matches in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies, starting June 1. Out of these, 20 are umpires and the rest are match referees.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, Nitin Menon, Javagal Srinath, and Jayaraman Madanagopal will be the ones officiating in the T20 World Cup from India. Srinath is the only Indian named as a match referee for the tournament.<\/p>\n
The list includes experienced officials like Richard Illingworth, Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, and Paul Reiffel, who had officiated in the 2022 T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithin the selected group, we have experienced match officials and other high-performing members recognized for their strong and consistent performances,\u201d an ICC statement said. \u201cThe throughput from the pathway program will continue to see the development and emergence of high-quality match officials across the game.\u201d<\/p>\n
With 20 teams and 55 matches over 28 days, this will be the biggest T20 World Cup ever. \u201cWe are proud of the team we have assembled and confident our officials will perform strongly. We wish them all the best for what promises to be a very exciting tournament,\u201d the ICC added.<\/p>\n
