In an unprecedented move to bolster red-ball cricket and enrich its players, the Mumbai Cricket Association has declared that it will double the match fees for its Ranji players, imitating the Board of Control for Cricket in India payments.<\/p>\n
The earnings from the next season for Ranji players who represent Mumbai will be doubled, with seasoned campaigners making a substantial INR 1.2 lakh per day. As per the BCCI\u2019s present structure, players with more than 40 matches get INR 60,000, those with 21 to 40 games get a 50,000-per-day match fee, and those with 1 to 20 games earn 40,000 per day. The reserves for these categories earn INR 30,000, 25,000, and 20,000, this season.<\/p>\n
This means that senior players of Mumbai could earn INR 6 lakh per five-day Ranji game, played in the knockouts, or a staggering INR 50 Lakh for the season if they reach the final. MCA expresses its pride in the groundbreaking initiative to promote its keen Red-Ball cricket format in the Mumbai Cricket bounds. The MCA\u2019s Apex Council implemented the proposal made by its President Amol Kale.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe MCA is committed to Red Ball cricket wholeheartedly. This is evident in the fact that the MCA has matched prize money of 5 Crore to the Mumbai team, a record-extending 42nd time the team has won the Ranji Trophy earlier this month,\u201d said Ajinkya Naik, MCA Secretary.<\/p>\n
