With the retirement of David Warner, the Australian selectors are on the lookout for a new Test opener, and various options are under consideration.<\/p>\n<p>The urgency is heightened by the upcoming home series against West Indies scheduled to commence on January 17. The team is exploring strategies to accommodate both Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh in the playing XI.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s just not going to happen in my opinion. He\u2019s commanded so much respect in the game that we should all listen to what he has to say, but I equally think that\u2019s not the way the Australian cricket team management will go. It certainly doesn\u2019t sound like the way Pat will go,\u201d Hayden told the Sydney Morning Herald.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that Steve Smith, while occasionally batting at No. 3, has never opened in Test cricket.
