Before Thursday\u2019s opening Test of the home summer against Pakistan in Perth, Head, Cummins, and fellow vice-captain Steve Smith were appointed to Australia\u2019s leadership team.<\/p>\n
Earlier in 2019, when Tim Paine was the national captain, the 29-year-old was named vice-captain for Tests. However, he did not retain the role after being benched during the 2020\u201321 Border\u2013Gavaskar Trophy.<\/p>\n
