After beating world number seven Jonatan Christie the 28 year old Indian shuttler H S Prannoy has entered into the second round of men\u2019s singles at the Thailand Open tournament super 1000 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In an exciting contest that clocked an hour and 15 minutes Prannoy recovered from game down to outplayed sixth seed Christie 18-21 21-16 23-21.<\/p>\n
Last week Prannoy had failed to win game against Malaysia\u2019s Lee Zee Jia.<\/p>\n
Almost two months ago after being tested positive for Covid-19 Prannoy had spent few weeks stressing over his mental and physical health. Though everything seemed normal in the tests the infection left him with pain in his ribcage.<\/p>\n
Prannoy said that, \u201cI\u2019m proud of my win today. I haven\u2019t practised the last few days because rib was hurting, maybe there\u2019s a muscle inflammation because I was coughing a lot when I had COVID.\u201d He also added that \u201d As there were no expectations, today I just wanted to stay in there . I had a fall when he had match point and hurt my left shoulder. I felt it was dislocated but it went back into place. Right now it\u2019s ok but after a while it might start hurting again.\u201d<\/p>\n
However Prannoy and Sameer Verma is going to carry India\u2019s charge in the men\u2019s single. Prannoy is going to take on Malaysia\u2019s Daren Liew in the next match.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
