He will now work with England and Sussex\u2019s medical teams to manage the injury.<\/p>\n<section class=\"cb-nws-dtl-itms\">\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"cb-nws-para\">\u201cIt has been a frustrating and upsetting period for Jofra Archer,\u201d ECB Managing Director for England Men\u2019s Cricket, Rob Key, said. \u201cHe was making good progress until a recurrence of the elbow injury, which kept him out for an extended period previously. We wish him the best of luck with his recovery. I\u2019m sure we will see Jofra back to his best and winning games for England, whatever the format. He will replace Ben Foakes in the squad.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<section class=\"cb-nws-dtl-itms\">\n<p class=\"cb-nws-para\">\u201cIt was a seriously tough decision to leave Ben Foakes out of the squad. He has been excellent for England in the last year, but Jonny Bairstow is one of the best players in the world whose performances last summer epitomised what we are about,\u201d Key noted.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>England\u2019s Test squad also sees the return of Chris Woakes, who last played in March 2022, and Mark Wood, who took a break from the New Zealand tour.
