Beginning\u00a0<\/span><\/span>play\u00a0<\/span><\/span>on\u00a0<\/span><\/span>February\u00a0<\/span>24\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Bangkok,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>ACC\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Challenger\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Cup\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>first\u00a0<\/span><\/span>competition\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>ACC\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/span>extensive NEW<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>50-over\u00a0<\/span><\/span>pathway\u00a0<\/span><\/span>structure.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The competition pits the hosts Thailand against fellow Asian Associates Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, Myanmar, the Maldives, and Iran, as well as EAP invitees Indonesia, for two spots in the ACC Premier Cup qualifiers in April. It is the first step on the new Asia Cup qualification ladder.<\/p>\n

Each team competes in one round robin as eight teams are divided into two groups of four teams each. Group A\u2019s opponents are Bahrain, Bhutan, the Maldives, and Iran, while Group B\u2019s opponents are Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Myanmar. In order to determine qualification, the top two teams from each group advance to the crossover semifinals. Each semi-victor final\u2019s advances to the Premier Cup to play in the championship match.<\/p>\n

At the ACC Premier Cup, which will be held in Nepal in late April, the Challenger Cup winners and runners-up will join eight other seasoned Associates, including ODI nations UAE, Nepal, and Oman as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, and Kuwait.<\/p>\n
