Antoine Griezmann has opened up on his difficult spell at FC Barcelona and admitted that leaving Atl\u00e9tico Madrid was a mistake.<\/p>\n
The French forward made the emotional comments as his second spell with Atl\u00e9tico moves closer to its end. With only two matches left this season, Griezmann is now preparing to leave the Spanish club once again.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old is expected to join Orlando City SC next month ahead of the new MLS campaign phase.<\/p>\n
In a message that quickly went viral on social media, Griezmann admitted he failed to understand the connection he had with Atl\u00e9tico before joining Barcelona in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease forgive me. I was young and I made a mistake to join Barcelona, as I did not understand the love I had at Atl\u00e9tico,\u201d Griezmann said.<\/p>\n
The attacker also revealed that returning to Madrid helped him rediscover happiness in football again.<\/p>\n
\u201cI recognized my mistake and did everything to come back. Then I was able to enjoy again here, my home,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Griezmann originally left Atl\u00e9tico for Barcelona in a deal worth around \u20ac120 million. However, his time at Camp Nou did not meet expectations.
