Zakir won the domestic four-day competition, taking first place in the run-charts, earning him a spot on the 17-person squad. In the first unofficial Test match against India, he was also named Player of the Match after scoring a resolute 173 in the second innings to secure a draw for the hosts. In the ongoing second match, the wicketkeeper-batter followed it up with a 46 in the first innings.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur physio said he won\u2019t be able to play in the first Test. But we are awaiting the medical report for the second Test. So, we\u2019ve announced the squad for the opening Test,\u201d BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin stated. \u201cAs for Zakir we feel he is performing regularly in domestic cricket to earn a spot in the Test squad,\u201d Minhajul added.<\/p>\n
