The All India Football Federation<\/span><\/span> (AIFF) has strongly rejected recent allegations made by Executive Committee member Valanka Alemao<\/span><\/span>, issuing a detailed clarification to ensure transparency around the matter involving Churchill Brothers FC Goa<\/span><\/span> and their proposed inclusion in the Indian Super League<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

AIFF Denies Pressure Allegations, Highlights Timeline<\/h3>\n

According to the federation, between January 8 and February 15, 2026, sustained pressure was exerted by Alemao and her family members to facilitate Churchill Brothers\u2019 entry into the ISL through exceptional measures. However, the AIFF maintained that such a request could not be accommodated due to existing regulations and commitments made to stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The federation emphasised that on January 6, 2026, it had already announced a 14-team format with 91 matches<\/strong> for the upcoming ISL season. This structure was approved by the Asian Football Confederation<\/span><\/span>, making any last-minute alterations impractical and non-compliant.<\/p>\n

I-League Promotion Rule and CAS Decision<\/h3>\n

The AIFF reiterated that promotion to the ISL is governed by clear rules under the I-League<\/span><\/span> framework. As per regulations, the league winner earns promotion to the ISL.<\/p>\n

Following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport<\/span><\/span>, Inter Kashi<\/span><\/span> was declared the winner of the I-League season. This decision made them eligible for ISL promotion, leaving no room for Churchill Brothers to be included outside the established system.<\/p>\n

Emergency Meetings and Executive Committee Decisions<\/h3>\n

Alemao reportedly pushed for multiple Emergency Executive Committee meetings to revisit the issue. The AIFF confirmed that:<\/p>\n
