{"id":407,"date":"2022-03-01T23:20:32","date_gmt":"2022-03-01T17:50:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.businessupturn.com\/sports\/?p=198290"},"modified":"2022-03-01T23:20:32","modified_gmt":"2022-03-01T17:50:32","slug":"the-world-athletics-council-impose-sanctions-against-federations-of-russia-and-belarus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.businessupturn.com\/sports\/other-sports\/the-world-athletics-council-impose-sanctions-against-federations-of-russia-and-belarus\/","title":{"rendered":"The World Athletics Council impose sanctions against Federations of Russia and Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u201cThe world is horrified by what Russia has done\u201d, says World Athletics President Sebastian Coe in an address to the Council, reported <em>India Today<\/em>. \u201cThe unprecedented sanctions that are being imposed on Russia and Belarus by countries and industries all over the world appear to be the only peaceful way to disrupt and disable Russia\u2019s current intentions and restore peace\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p>As there continues to be growing concerns about sanctions against athletes and the sporting world because of the respective country\u2019s political climate, Coe admitted that such moves are against the grain but also said that it is essential to spike up efforts by the sports sector to amplify the voices against modern horrors and end the war to restore peace and tranquillity. He urged everyone involved in the sporting world to take action and not sit this out.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to impose sanctions against the federations of Russia and Belarus for the foreseeable future is followed by the International Olympics Committee\u2019s decision to suspend all the Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing in all international sporting events.
