India lost despite amassing a fantastic total of 211 against South Africa on the opening day of the five-match T20I series<\/a>, and netizens are responding to the defeat. Few have reacted to Rishabh Pant\u2019s<\/a> captaincy by claiming that no one can replace Rohit Sharma<\/a> and that India needs Rohit\u2019s guidance.<\/p>\n

Rohit Sharma is an exceptional captain. India is yet to lose a T20I match under his leadership.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old is the top run-getter in T20 internationals, with 3313 runs at an average of 32 and a strike rate of over 140. Furthermore, neither any batsman has ever equaled his four T20I centuries.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that South Africa has picked a star-studded lineup that includes some of the leading names from the IPL\u2019s recent season, India are without skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli<\/a>, and Jasprit Bumrah<\/a>, who are all rested for the series.<\/p>\n

South Africa beat India by seven wickets in the inaugural T20 International of the five-match series on Thursday, owing to scorching half-centuries from David Miller<\/a> and Rassie van der Dussen. Chasing a huge 212, Miller (64 not out) and Van der Dussen (75 not out) shared an undefeated 131-run fourth-wicket stand to guide the visitors to victory. Axar Patel<\/a> (1\/43), Bhuveneshwar Kumar<\/a> (1\/43), and Harshal Patel<\/a> (1\/43) all took one wicket each for India.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

India was put in to bat, and after a strong start, Ishan Kishan<\/a> went on to score heavily, laying the groundwork for a large total. Shreyas Iyer<\/a>, Rishabh Pant, and, in particular, Hardik Pandya bowled brilliant cameos to push the total to 211. Although the South African spinners were mainly ineffective, Keshav Maharaj bowled brilliantly and took a crucial wicket.<\/p>\n

The pacers had a mixed day as well, although they played well in some parts of the game. To chase down the total, the visitors had go all out from the outset, and Dwaine Pretorius<\/a> provided them the greatest possible start, despite losing a wicket early in the Powerplay.<\/p>\n
