A top BCCI official has stated that the IPL media rights could be released soon, most likely within a week, and has blamed the delay to procedural concerns. The BCCI has also refuted suggestions that the ongoing delay is due to host broadcaster Star exerting pressure. The board functionary further claimed that the existing broadcaster, whose five-year contract expires after the IPL in 2022, had no objections to the tender being launched immediately.<\/p>\n
According to Cricbuzz, the general perception in the market is that the price will double from the previous cycle\u2019s value of INR 16,347 crore, which will automatically add up to INR 20,000 crore due to a 25% increase in the number of games as a result of the league\u2019s expansion to ten teams from eight this year.<\/p>\n
According to Cricbuzz, the board is certain that the valuation will skyrocket. \u201cWe are expecting a very high price. It would be unfair to point out a figure.
