If stated statistically, it is visibly examined and noted that spectators of any women\u2019s cricket game are approaching a 250 percent improvement in channel\u2019s view watch score, and that the audience has increased significantly over the last two years. According to a report from 2020, 75 million individuals watched the ICC World Cup match, which accounted for 5.3 billion minutes of television viewership, with about 40% of those being female viewers (BARC\u2019s report).<\/p>\n
Fans are buzzing all over social media as Twitterati, commentators, retired cricketers, and even current players try to elevate the sport of cricket for both genders.<\/p>\n
With the men\u2019s IPL on the horizon, a social media poll revealed that there is a demand for a women\u2019s IPL to be held, and this idea gained traction after BCCI President Saurav Ganguly acknowledged the obvious facts of a women\u2019s IPL starting in 2023.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the BCCI has been hosting the Women\u2019s T20 Challenge, which featured three teams in a T20 event. Even though the BCCI staged the IPL in two halves in 2021 due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Women\u2019s T20 Challenge was not held. Many Indian women cricketers, including Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana, have called for the women\u2019s IPL to be introduced.<\/p>\n
Sourav Ganguly, the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has spoken out regarding the idea of launching a women\u2019s Indian Premier League, stating that 2023 will be a great year to launch a full-fledged women\u2019s league that will be as huge and successful as the men\u2019s IPL.<\/p>\n
We are at the level of formulation to have a full-fledged WIPL. It is certainly going to happen. I strongly believe that next year i.e. 2023 will be a very good time to start a full-fledged women\u2019s IPL which will be as big and grand a success as the men\u2019s IPL,\u201d President Ganguly was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.<\/p>\n
