In 1956, Benaud played in Australia\u2019s first Test in Pakistan, the country\u2019s first in Asia, and he was the top scorer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When Australia returned in 1959, he was captain for the first time, and the tourists won the series 1-0.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the 1970s and 1980s, Qadir was renowned as the \u2018magician\u2019 and was crucial in restoring the lost skill of leg-spin bowling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Benaud\u2019s wife, Daphne, commented in a statement, \u201cI am delighted to give my approval for Richie\u2019s name to go on this trophy beside Abdul Qadir\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Australia is visiting Pakistan for the first time in a Test series since Mark Taylor\u2019s side won a three-match series 1-0 in 1998.<\/p>\n

The current tour is the 26th Test series between the two countries, with Australia winning 13 and Pakistan winning 5.<\/p>\n
