He has served as the club\u2019s vice-captain and led the team for a brief while last season,\u2019 according to the team\u2019s press release.<\/p>\n<p>Following the 2021 season, Mayank was one of two players retained by the IPL franchise. Along with uncapped Arshdeep Singh, he was retained for Rs 12 crore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been with Punjab Kings since 2018, and I\u2019m proud to be a part of such a terrific team. I am ecstatic to be given the responsibility of leading the team. I take on this duty with the utmost sincerity, but I also think that with the potential we have in the Punjab Kings squad this season, my work will be made simpler. We have a lot of experienced players on our team, as well as a lot of good young players who are eager to seize the opportunity and play with it,\u201d Mayank spoke of his new captaincy role as posted by Punjab Kings\u2019 official Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve always gone into the game aiming to win the title, and as a squad, we\u2019ll work hard to achieve our objective of winning our first IPL trophy. I am grateful to the team management for trusting me with this new duty as the side\u2019s leader.
