Former Indian cricketer and current president of BCCI, Saurabh Ganguly, might have responsibilities in the coming time. The opening batter on Wednesday was selected as the head of the ICC\u2019s men\u2019s committee chair. It is a very prestigious position in ICC as the sole job of the person holding this chair is to evaluate and oversee the playing conditions and the rules and regulations of the game.<\/p>\n
Previously, this post was held by Anil Kumble, who is also Ganguly\u2019s former teammate. Kumble completed 9 years in the position after he replaced Clive Lloyd in 2012. After completing his first team, he was reappointed by ICC in 2016 and later in 2019 for three years\u2019 third and final term. His departure from the past will pave the way for Ganguly, who was previously a mere observer on the board. Now, he will be promoted to the post of Chairman.<\/p>\n
In the midst of this, another good news is coming BCCI\u2019s and Ganguly\u2019s way. Since India is due to host three mega-events in the coming decade, they were worried about the taxes that they would have to pay to the Indian government of India. An approximation of the total taxes BCCI would be required to pay is said to be somewhere around 1500 crore ($200million), but now they won\u2019t have to do it. According to TOI\u2019s report, ICC has decided to pay the 10% tax of each mega tournament to the government of India.<\/p>\n
TOI also reported a top official saying that cricket boards in other countries are exempted from these fees.
