Former Australian skipper and current batsman Steve Smith is suffering an elbow injury say that Test cricket remains his top priority and he would not mind missing T20 World Cup to be fit and play well for the Ashes series against England. Presently, he has withdrawn from the ongoing white-ball tour of the West Indies due to his elbow injury.<\/p>\n
The batsman reported to total.cricket.com.au on Friday, \u201cThere\u2019s still a bit of time between now and T20 World Cup, and I\u2019m tracking ok at the moment \u2013 it\u2019s slow, but I\u2019m going ok.\u201d As the T20 world Cup has shifted from India to UAE and Oman due to COVID-19 concerns, the tournament is starting from October 17 to November 14. Meanwhile, the Ashes is set to begin on December 8 in Brisbane.<\/p>\n
Smith added, \u201cI would love to be part of the World Cup, for sure. But from my point of view, Test cricket, that\u2019s my main goal \u2013 to be right for the Ashes and try to emulate what I\u2019ve done in the last few Ashes series I\u2019ve been involved in.\u201d The batsman got injured during the first half of IPL (Indian Premier League), he had pain in his left wrist after a change in his batting grip and needed painkillers but then after that, he didn\u2019t play a single match. Now as he mentioned in the above statements that he is recovering now but unfortunately ready to miss T20 World Cup for the Ashes.
