England\u2019s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan dismissed accusations of racism against him by insisting historic tweets \u2018taken out of context\u2019, says \u2018Sir\u2019 is a sign of admiration. England cricket was shaken earlier this month after pacer Ollie Robinson was suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for his racist and sexist tweets dating back to 2012-13.<\/p>\n
Just after, posts, in which Morgan and wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler used the word \u2018Sir\u2019 to mock the Indians, started doing the rounds on social media. He told reporters ahead of England\u2019s white-ball series against Sri Lanka in Cardiff, \u201cI don\u2019t reflect on it a lot. If I call somebody \u2018sir\u2019 on social media, or anywhere around the world, it\u2019s a sign of admiration and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further added, \u201cIf that\u2019s taken out of context there\u2019s nothing I can control or do about it. So I haven\u2019t looked into it. The ECB had promised, relevant and appropriate action.\u201d Screenshots of a message by Buttler in which he explains, \u201cI always reply sir no-one else like me like you like me\u201d had been shared on Twitter.
