The Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W) secured their second Women\u2019s Premier League (WPL) title after defeating Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) by <\/span>eight runs<\/b> in a hard-fought final. With this victory, MI-W became the <\/span>first team to win multiple WPL titles<\/b>, while DC-W once again fell short in their quest for a maiden championship.<\/span><\/p>\n

Harmanpreet, Sciver-Brunt anchor MI-W innings<\/h3>\n

After losing the toss, MI-W were put in to bat first and faced early trouble as Delhi\u2019s<\/span> bowlers struck twice in the powerplay. However, captain <\/span>Harmanpreet Kaur<\/b> led from<\/span> the front with a crucial<\/span> 66-run knock<\/b>, stabilizing the innings. She found strong support from <\/span>Nat Sciver-Brunt<\/b>, who continued her phenomenal form, guiding MI-W to a competitive total of 149 runs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Delhi\u2019s chase falls short despite fightback<\/h3>\n

DC-W\u2019s run chase started on a shaky note as <\/span>both openers fell in the powerplay<\/b>, putting them under immense pressure. <\/span>Jemimah Rodrigues and Marizanne Kapp<\/b> tried to revive the innings, steering the chase towards a tense finish. With this defeat against Mumbai, DC-W has now lost all the three finals they have played in WPL. In 2023, they lost the finals against Mumbai Indians-Women. RCB-W defeated them in the final in the second season of WPL in 2024. This time also DC-W fell short in the final match.<\/p>\n

Nat Sciver-Brunt\u2019s consistent performances throughout the tournament were rewarded as she finished as the <\/span>highest run-scorer with 523 runs in 10 matches<\/b>, earning her the prestigious <\/span>Orange Cap<\/b>. Her all-round contribution in the final, with both bat and ball, played a pivotal role in MI-W\u2019s victory.<\/span><\/p>\n
