India para-shuttler Krishna Nagar comfortably beat his opponent Brazil\u2019s Vitor Goncalves Tavares at the Tokyo Paralympics in the final game of Men\u2019s Singles SH6 Group B.<\/p>\n
The match started on a very tight note with the Indian para-athlete leading 11-10 during the mid-break in the first set. Krishna Nagar, however, raised his game to a level that the Brazilian Tavares couldn\u2019t compete with and the set ended with the score at 21-17 in the favour of the Indian para-shuttler.<\/p>\n
In the second set, Krishna opened up an early two-point lead. The Brazilian fought back to make the score 5-3 and it looked like the second set will go the same way as the first set did. Krishna made a comeback again to make the scores level. at 5-5 and then went up and again opened up a two-point lead in the set with the score being 7-5 in his favour. Vitor Tavares still had a spirit in his game when he took back the lead from Krishna with the score being at 10-9, a slender one-point lead. Krishna, again, took the lead with the score being at 13-11. Krishna cruised towards victory from then onwards as he started to pull away and gave only a few points away to ensure that he won the match within 30 minutes. Due to this game, he is now through to the semi-finals in the SH6 Men Singles Event. His qualification was already confirmed when his opponent Malaysia\u2019s Didin Taresoh withdrew himself from the match.<\/p>\n
The para-shuttles have dome pretty well today with Manoj Sarkar (MS SL3), Tarun Dhillon (MS SL4), Suhas Yathiraj (MS SL4), Pramod Bhagat-Palak Kohli (XD SL3-SU5) all through to semifinal rounds. The duo of Papal Kohli and Parul Parmar bowed out though. There is at least one medal assured in MS SL3 and MS SL4.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
