Sakina had her event of powerlifting on Friday morning where she successfully lifted 90kg in her first attempt. She directly jumps to the No. 1 spot just after her first attempt. The medal was looking possible for the Indian Paralympic Powerlifter after her powerful performance in lifting 90kg.

However, Sakina failed to do it in the second attempt where she tried to lift 93kg. She tried but couldn’t manage to get to the top three and just missed a medal. In the second attempt, GBR’s powerlifter makes a successful attempt of 106, China’s also attempted 105 and was successful. Because of which Sakina who failed to clear the second attempt slips to the 5th position from the top. However, in her third attempt, she was successful in lifting 93kg but it was too late for her as that attempt couldn’t win her a medal. She needed 105 plus to be in the medal contention.

#Parapowerlifting Update

Sakina Khatun finishes 5th with the highest bench press of 93kg in the women’s 50 Kg event

We wish her the best for future competitions #Powerlifting #Paralympics #Praise4Para

— SAI Media (@Media_SAI) August 27, 2021

Sakina Khatun finishes in the 5th spot in this 50kg powerlifting final in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
