Aditi Ashok is just 23 years old from Bengaluru. In the Rio Olympics, she made history by becoming the youngest golfer (male or female) to play the games.

Aditi was battling with World no. 1 Golfer, Nelly Korda of the USA and former World no. 1 Lydia Ko of New Zealand. Lydia Ko won a silver medal in the Rio Olympics. Aditi played very well as she sealed 3 birdies on Saturday.

She made her debut in the 2016 Rio Olympics, but it didn’t turn out so good for her. Aditi finished 41st in Rio. However, she made a huge comeback in this one, finishing fourth and just missing out on bronze. She finished only two shots behind the gold medalist Nelly Korda. Aditi’s score at the end of the game was 269, 15 more would have earned her a medal.

This birdie showed us how @aditigolf – the world no. 200 went toe-to-toe with the champions till the last shot and finished fourth. 🙌🙌🙌#Tokyo2020 | #StrongerTogether | #UnitedByEmotion pic.twitter.com/Ga9G6arg3E

— Olympic Khel (@OlympicKhel) August 7, 2021

“I think it’s good, just even top 5 or top 10 at an Olympics is really good. Because you know that sport or that person has a medal chance. So just having more top finishes, even if it’s not exactly a podium finish, will maybe bring eyes to the sport and more support, more kids pick up more, whatever, that helps grow the game,” Aditi Ashok said after the end of her event.

“When I started golf I never dreamt of being or contending at the Olympics, golf wasn’t even an Olympic sport.
