Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) with her debut has confirmed the first boring medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics as she defeated China\u2019s Nien-Chin Chen to progress to the semifinals of the women\u2019s Welterweight on Friday.<\/p>\n
The boxer from Assam persisted 4-1 and earned the final four where she will be in action against world champion from Turkey Busenaz Surmeneli. She reached the semis of the event defeating Anna Lysenko in the quarterfinal bout.<\/p>\n
Borgohain has earned a world championship bronze medal twice. She showed huge stillness as her gesture was too calm against her opposition, the one who had won against her previously in past.<\/p>\n
In starting, the 23-year-old Assamese began in aggression and emerged the battle with a massive counter-attacking match while she managed her defence too strong during the decisive three minutes of the game and that empowered her towards the victory.<\/p>\n
She failed to attend a training trip to Europe due to COVID-19 as she was set low by the virus. The youngster didn\u2019t allow this to affect her in the match and she confirmed the medal for the nation.<\/p>\n
