Sorribes maintained her momentum in the second set, winning it 6-3 and finishing the match in straight sets.<\/p>\n<p>Barty, the defending Wimbledon champion, lost serve twice in each set while Sorribes Tormo, ranked 48th in the world, committed only five unforced errors to Barty\u2019s 27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing feeling, I still can\u2019t believe it,\u201d said Sorribes Tormo, who will go on to face France\u2019s Fiona Ferro in the second round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something incredible for me. It\u2019s something that I\u2019ve been dreaming of all my life, being here and even more so beating the world number one. I\u2019m super, super happy.\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>While Barty\u2019s attempt to become Australia\u2019s first singles gold medalist in tennis was cut short, she and her partner Storm Sanders advanced to the second round of the women\u2019s doubles.<\/p>\n<p>In the quarter-finals of that competition, Barty might potentially face Sorribes Tormo again.
