Captain <strong data-start=\"364\" data-end=\"380\">Shreyas Iyer<\/strong> is set to represent PBKS at the <strong data-start=\"413\" data-end=\"461\">IPL 2026 Auction in Abu Dhabi on December 16<\/strong>, while head coach <strong data-start=\"480\" data-end=\"497\">Ricky Ponting<\/strong> will not be present due to broadcasting commitments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"552\" data-end=\"829\">According to a report by Cricbuzz, Shreyas Iyer will be one of the eight officials allowed at the table as per BCCI regulations. The franchise has decided that Iyer will sit in the leadership chair as Punjab Kings prepare to fill their remaining squad slots for the new season.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"1119\">Ponting, however, is unavailable. The former Australia captain is contractually committed to Channel 7 for commentary duties during the <strong data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"993\">Ashes Test in Adelaide<\/strong>, which begins the very next day. As a result, he will remain in Australia instead of travelling to Abu Dhabi for the auction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1121\" data-end=\"1354\">Shreyas Iyer has been recovering from a spleen injury sustained during India\u2019s tour of Australia in October. Reports suggest he is nearing full fitness and is expected to be match-ready before the start of <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1339\">IPL 2026<\/strong> in late March.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1356\" data-end=\"1524\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Punjab Kings enter the auction with a clear strategy and will rely on Iyer and other senior management members to take charge of bidding decisions in Ponting\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Punjab Kings will have a different face at their auction table this year.
