Amid the spike in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, the Maharashtra government gave a nod to the three-match One Day International series between India and England to be played in Pune. There were speculations about shifting the series to some other ground. But the series will be played without spectators.<\/p>\n
\u201cKeeping the seriousness of the current spike in COVID cases in Maharashtra, after inputs from the Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister, it was decided that permission will be granted for these matches without spectators,\u201d the Maharashtra Cricket Association said.<\/p>\n
The cricket body advised the players to take necessary precautions regarding the coronavirus spread.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Chief Minister requested the President of Maharashtra Cricket Association to take all necessary precautions regarding players and other officials.<\/p>\n
The association also gave the vote of thanks to the BCCI, ICC and MCA president Sharad Pawar for the help and guidance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this, the uncertainty about holding these one-day internationals, has ended and the Association can start preparatory works like obtaining permissions, for smooth conduct of the matches,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this juncture, Vikas Kakatkar also wishes to put on record the invaluable help and guidance received from Hon\u2019ble Sharadrao Pawar,\u201d the release stated.<\/p>\n
