The incident occurred during the match against <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"516\">Punjab Kings (PBKS)<\/strong> on <strong data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"537\">April 8, 2025<\/strong>, in Mullanpur during the 22nd match of IPL 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"588\" data-end=\"1020\">Conway, who was batting on <strong data-start=\"615\" data-end=\"634\">69 off 49 balls<\/strong>, struggled to accelerate in the death overs. With <strong data-start=\"685\" data-end=\"716\">49 runs needed off 19 balls<\/strong>, the CSK management made a bold call on the <strong data-start=\"761\" data-end=\"798\">penultimate ball of the 18th over<\/strong>, asking Conway to walk back. In his place, <strong data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"861\">Ravindra Jadeja<\/strong> came in to finish the chase. Facing Lucknow Super Giants in a tight game, Tilak was pulled back to the dugout after a sluggish <strong data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1578\">25 off 23 balls<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1605\">Mitchell Santner<\/strong> replacing him. The decision sparked online debate, with fans criticizing <strong data-start=\"1679\" data-end=\"1696\">Hardik Pandya<\/strong> and coach <strong data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1729\">Mahela Jayawardene<\/strong> for the timing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"2060\">However, Jayawardene later defended the decision, calling it \u201cpurely tactical\u201d and reflective of modern T20 strategies. \u201cIn the modern age, it\u2019s more tactical\u2026 Tilak was trying and couldn\u2019t get going in Lucknow.
