New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson admitted that the potential missing of Test matches against England in early June due to the IPL is not his preferred option, but it\u2019s another case of the ideal scenario taking place in the current situation.<\/p>\n
However, it is yet to be confirmed whether there would be a clash between the knockout stage of the IPL and the two-match series that will be played at Lord\u2019s and Edgbaston between June 2 and 14.<\/p>\n
The series will take place just before the World Test Championship final, beginning on June 18, which New Zealand is guaranteed to be at.<\/p>\n
According to NZC CEO David White, a pragmatic approach would be taken as it is expected that the IPL will stretch into early June. Even if the dates aren\u2019t a direct clash, it may not be as simple as quickly flying from India as covid-19 quarantine protocols are required.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s certainly not the preferred thing,\u201d Williamson said. \u201cI know when plans were put in place that wasn\u2019t the idea then, but as we\u2019ve seen, you can make plans in this day in age and very rarely do they go to plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor us, it\u2019s being able to adapt as quickly as possible, we still have to wait and see when dates are finalized to truly know what is happening before any decision is made but the ideal scenario is to be available and around for all that cricket. We\u2019ll just have to wait and see,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
