India won the second Test against England by a huge margin of 317-runs, and level the series by 1-1. The visitors won the first match by 227-runs but India dominated the second match from start to finish. Skipper Joe Root who scored a brilliant double-century in the first inning of the first match can\u2019t even score a half-century in the second match.<\/p>\n
Joe Root admitted that India was better than them in the second match and England\u2019s players need to learn things from them. Ashwin\u2019s brilliance game outplay England\u2019s batsmen which were one of the major drawbacks of the visitors. The England players who helped the team to score more than 500 in the first inning of the first match could not able to adapt to the turning track of Chennai in the second match.<\/p>\n
\u201c I think as a bowling group we have spoken a lot recently about building pressure for long periods. One thing we could have gotten a little bit better especially on day 1 was squeezing the game for longer. Trying to bowl 6 balls at one batter. Try and make it difficult to rotate the strike and create pressure that way,\u201d said the England captain.<\/p>\n
Indian spinners Ashwin and Axar Patel did a great job by picking crucial wickets, both the player took a fifer in one inning each. But England spinner could not make it to the perfect. However, Moeen Ali picked 8 wickets in the match, and Jack Leach dismissed some of the Indian batsmen but they were unable to tackle the batsmen from scoring runs.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that\u2019s something we need to do for the rest of the tour. Can we find ways of keeping the board quiet for longer? Can we string maidens together? Can we force errors through very disciplined passages of play with the ball? That\u2019s one thing they (India) did a lot better than us,\u201d said Joe Root.<\/p>\n
Despite admitting that England was outplayed, Joe Root took heart from the fact that the series is still level. The skipper took responsibility after the heavy defeat and claimed he was looking forward to the pink-ball Test which begins on February 24 in Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n
