Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is delighted on playing alongside and learning the game from Virat Kohli in the upcoming Indian Premier League. He called the Indian skipper \u201cthe pinnacle off the game\u201d due to his dominance across the three formats.<\/p>\n
Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Maxwell, who was released by Punjab Kings after an ordinary IPL in 2020 for a whopping Rs 14.25 Crore at the auctions last month.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s (RCB stint) going to be next level,\u201d Maxwell told Australian Associated Press (AAP).<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Kohli) has been the pinnacle of the game for a while as a multi-format player from Tests all the way to T20s. He\u2019s been able to adapt his game, dominate for a long period of time and deal with the Indian pressure of being their captain and their best player,\u201d Maxwell added.<\/p>\n
The IPL is scheduled to start in the second week of April and the big-hitting all-rounder hopes to grasp some leadership qualities from the Indian captain, who would also be RCB\u2019s skipper.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to watching him go about his work, not just in games but in training, and hopefully tapping into some of the leadership stuff and try and learn off him.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old said that he had developed a good friendship with Kohli over the years. He also added that the Indian batsman backed him when he took a mental break in 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been a solid backer of my stance,\u201d Maxwell said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a way he probably understood a lot of the things that I was going through. A lot of expectation and pressure, which I\u2019m sure he can relate to.\u201d<\/p>\n
