Indian captain Virat Kohli said he was \u201cpretty scared\u201d to hit the nets for the first time in five months due to coronavirus lockdown but, also said that his first training session for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) \u201cwent better than expected\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli resumed training after a five-month lockdown. The net session was also attended by South African pace legend Dale Steyn and Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB)\u00a0 team director Mike Hesson.<\/p>\n
\u201c(It went) much better than expected,to be honest\u201d. I was pretty scared I hadn\u2019t picked up a bat for five months, but yeah it came out better than I thought, to be honest\u201d Kohli was quoted as saying by the franchise\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
Virat Kohli was one of the Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) highest run-getter in Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. Staying fit during the lockdown has helped the player to react better during the net session even though he started training after a long break.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve trained quite a bit during the lockdown, so I\u2019m feeling quite fit and that helps. Because the body is light and you react better, I feel like I have more time on the ball. That\u2019s a big plus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOtherwise you come heavier into the season, the body isn\u2019t moving as much, and it starts playing on mind, but yeah, as I said it went much better than I expected.\u201d Added Virat.<\/p>\n
Besides Kohli, spin trio of Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Nadeem and a few pacers also trained and Kohli was pleased with the way they went about their business in the first session.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe spinners looked pretty good for day one, they pitched the ball in consistent areas for long enough,\u201d said Virat Kohli, whose last assignment was the two-match Test series against New Zealand in early March.<\/p>\n
\u201cShahbaz was good, Washy (Washington) was very good, I saw Chahal bowl well too. The seamers went through their motions a little bit. All in all, a decent start to our camp\u201d. Added Virat.<\/p>\n
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) arrived in Dubai last week ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is scheduled to begin on September 19. The team hit the nets after successfully completing their quarantine period.<\/p>\n
