{"id":17541,"date":"2021-07-03T16:32:35","date_gmt":"2021-07-03T11:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.businessupturn.com\/sports\/?p=119607"},"modified":"2021-07-03T16:32:35","modified_gmt":"2021-07-03T11:02:35","slug":"lewis-hamilton-signs-new-contract-with-mercedes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.businessupturn.com\/sports\/formula-1\/lewis-hamilton-signs-new-contract-with-mercedes\/","title":{"rendered":"Lewis Hamilton signs new contract with Mercedes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lewis Hamilton signed a new two-year contract with Mercedes that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2023 season.\u00a0<span style=\"text-transform: initial\">This deal will extend Hamilton\u2019s nine-year stay and will take the seven-time world champion and Mercedes, Formula 1\u2019s most successful driver-team combination, into the sport\u2019s much-changed new era from 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This also indicates that Hamilton will remain committed to F1 until at least the age of 38, with 2023 set to be his 17th season. <span style=\"text-transform: initial\">\u201cIt is hard to believe it\u2019s been nearly nine years working with this incredible team and I\u2019m excited we\u2019re going to continue our partnership for two more years,\u201d said Hamilton, who has won six of his seven titles with Mercedes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve accomplished so much together but we still have a lot to achieve, both on and off the track,\u201d he added.\u00a0<span style=\"text-transform: initial\">Hamilton signed his previous contract, in February, which was only for one year. He is currently 18 points behind Max Verstappen in a hotly-contested championship battle between Mercedes and Red Bull.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we enter a new era of F1 from 2022 onwards, there can be no better driver to have in our team than Lewis.
