Federer promised to attend the 2023 Laver Cup in Vancouver, even if it\u2019s not as an player, in his farewell speech.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for the 20-time Grand Slam champion, Team Europe\u2019s prominent duo of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer lost to Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock of Team World. The two, collectively referred to as \u201cFedal,\u201d were thrashed 6-4, 6(2)-7, 9-11 in front of a raucous crowd at London\u2019s O2 Arena.<\/p>\n<p>Federer\u2019s family, teammates, and friends sobbed in celebration of his fortunate career as the match came to a close. The crowd applauded and gave Federer a standing ovation as he made one final speech. Federer was visibly moved. The 41-year-old confirmed that he will be in Vancouver for the Laver Cup next year despite not being a currently active player, giving a hint as to his potential comeback.
