World No. 1 Novak Djokovic stays by his words for the players banned by the tennis tournaments being Russian and Belarusian. The top-seeded tennis professional believes that nationality should not be the reason for banning players from any tournament.<\/p>\n
The 20-times Grand Slam champion said, \u201cI stand by what I said, there is no need for athletes to be banned,\u201d reported Sasa Ozmo. The Serbian, who has reached his first final of the 2022 tennis season in the Serbia Open further stated that the tennis players have \u201crules against discrimination\u201d and that the players \u201cplay based on rankings, not nationality\u201d supporting those statements by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and PTPA.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Wimbledon in a statement released by them announced that they won\u2019t allow the players from Russia and Belarusian to participate in the championship which, ATP and WTA criticised saying that it\u2019s \u201cunfair\u201d and is a discriminating act.<\/p>\n
If this continues, World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev and No. 8 Andrey Rublev in men\u2019s while women\u2019s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Daria Kasatkina won\u2019t be allowed to play at the Grand Slam in summer.
