Daniil Medvedev was fined 12,000 dollars after a rage at the chair umpire during his semi-final match against Greece international Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Australian Open.<\/p>\n
The Russian international who is currently world number two was fined $8000 for visible indecency and $4000 for unsportsmanlike conduct by Tennis Australia.<\/p>\n
The semifinal was decided in the four sets in which he played against Stefanos Tsitsipas which made way for his second successive Australian Open finals but was seen ranting at Jaume Campistol who was the chair umpire for the match in the post-match interview.<\/p>\n
World number two kept on saying \u201cAre you mad? Are you mad father can coach every point \u201c, the Russian was caught on the camera saying this to the chair umpire Campistol. In the post-match interview, Medvedev called the chair umpire a \u201csmall cat,\u201d he said to AFP that he regretted making the rant.<\/p>\n
The Russian\u2019s career earnings are said to be over $22 million according to the ATP, and if he wins the Australian Open this time the prize money which he will receive will be $ 2million.<\/p>\n
Daniil Medvedev will lock horns with Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open finals on 30th January at Rod Laver Arena and it will be an interesting match as we could see Nadal win the 21st Grand Slam of his career.
