World number one Novak Djokovic will not take part in the upcoming ATP Cup that is scheduled ahead of the first Grand Slam of the new year. The Serbian\u2019s participation at the Australian Open is also is not certain as he has not told the status of his vaccination, stated Serbian newspaper Blic.<\/p>\n
The player is currently said to be training in Belgrade but has concluded to not appear for the ATP Cup, a tournament that is scheduled in Sydney and that is a traditional event to start men\u2019s tennis season. \u201cIt is 99 per cent sure that Novak won\u2019t go to the ATP Cup. He is training here (in Belgrade) but he has decided to give that tournament a miss,\u201d told an unnamed member of his team, reports AFP.<\/p>\n
If Djokovic participates in the Australian Open, he can overtake Swiss Roger Federer and Spaniard Rafael Nadal to become the man with the most number of Grand Slams that will count 21. Currently, the 34-year-old holds the record with 20 Grand Slams that equals him with Federer and Nadal. The event is organized to commence on January 17th.
