Saina and Mattek-Sands played a bit rusty at the start but once they going into their actual rhythm they dominated the match and won 7-5, 6-3 against the American-Chilean combination in one hour and 27 minutes.

In the beginning, the pressure was all on Indo-American pair when Mattek-Sands served the third game that featured seven-deuce points. By her three double faults in a slow start held the game after saving three breakpoints. The Indo-American pair had two opportunities to break their rivals as the American baffled a volley from the net before left-handed Desirae served extremely well to eventually hold.

In the second set, Sania and Mattek-Sands opened up a 3-1 lead and broke Guarachi again. Matte-Sands’ low backhand return was hit back uppishly and Sania latched onto that with a super smash. After both of them got a 3-1 lead, they never looked back. Before this, the Indian-American Shikha Uberoi had qualified for the US Open women’s singles in 2004 and also won her first round against Japan’s Saori Obata before losing to Venus Williams.

Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands thrashed out sixth seeds Desirae Krawczyk and Alexa Guarachi…

[6
1754,493,2046,481,2024
post-17060","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tennis","tag-chile","tag-japan","tag-sania-mirza","tag-venus-williams","tag-wimbledon-2021
["GET
