Dominic Thiem & Nick Kyrgios exchange words over Sascha Zverev . Dominic Thiem has come to the rescue of Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic over the Adria Tour mess which saw a number of players and support staff, including player\u2019s families contract coronavirus.<\/p>\n
This event has been widely criticised over the past few weeks over their poor planning and execution. There was a lack of social distancing with no protective measures enacted, not putting enough emphasis upon health and safety of both players and fans.<\/p>\n
Nick Kyrgios has been a firm critic of the Adria Tour including the players who took part and the organisational committee which jeopardised health and safety of so many people. In particular, Nick Kyrgios has been vocal about Sascha Zverev\u2019s situation, videos of whom were doing the rounds on social media where he was seeing partying despite having to home quarantine himself for safety purposes after testing negative for Corona Virus.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the result was negative, it was time to train again and then soon out to the airport. That was the rhythm. But it was better than going to quarantine. I don\u2019t see that I should bunker at home when I\u2019m healthy. That\u2019s why I decided to take the tests,\u201d Thiem was quoted as saying in an interview with Tiroler Tageszeitung, German-language newspaper in Austria.<\/p>\n
Thiem added that if the result was negative, Zverev should have done what he did. Instead Zverev\u2019s mistake according to Thiem was to have put out the statement about isolation and then being pictured unfortunately at a party.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I don\u2019t like the way people criticize him. He is treated as if he were an elementary school child. But he\u2019s a 23-year-old man. Sure, he made a mistake but I don\u2019t understand why everyone is getting involved,\u201d Thiem said.<\/p>\n
At the time, Nick Kyrgios had out out a video calling Zverev selfish for risking the lives of others. Thiem hit out at Kyrgios saying that he Australian should \u2018mend him ways\u2019 before interfering in everything.<\/p>\n
\u201cKyrgios has built a lot of nonsense himself. I understand even less when he interferes with everything. It would be better if he came to terms with himself rather than always criticizing others.\u201d Thiem said.<\/p>\n
Later, as the article was extensively shared on social media. However, it caught the attention of Nick Kyrgios who decided to respond to these claims. Made by Thiem via his twitter handle.<\/p>\n
