Lancashire spinner Matt Parkinson revealed that he was \u201cgutted\u201d over not getting selected in the England team for the upcoming limited-over series against South Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was gutted not to be selected. It was an odd summer, I didn\u2019t really know where I stood (with England) when I came back to play for Lancashire\u201d, Matt Parkinson told Cricinfo.<\/p>\n
I think if you spoke to a lot of the young lads on the fringes, it was quite a tough summer to see where you fitted in, just due to the lack of cricket we played.<\/p>\n
To be fit in the whole of the lockdown and then get so close to the season\u2026.it was stinking timing. I think I played 11 T20 games. I started a bit slowly but I thought I might have pushed my case in them with a decent finish and I was hoping sneak on as back-up spinner to Rash (Adil Rashid) but obviously it wasn\u2019t to be\u201d, added Matt Parkinson.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously the squad that they\u2019ve taken is fantastic and is a very tough one to break into, so all I can do is keep working. There are areas that I know I need to work on, and those are the things he stressed\u201d, Matt Parkinson added more.<\/p>\n
Matt Parkinson is belived to be one of the slowest spinners in the country, opined that his speed and skills are perfect according to him and that he can make a comeback into the England team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe speed and skills that I\u2019ve got currently are obviously doing well in the Blast. I like to think I\u2019ve got decent control for a leg-spinner, and I get a little bit of drift and some spin as well.<\/p>\n
When you get a taste of international cricket It does show you the slight things in your game that you do need to tweak but I am not going to change the whole package just to play for England- I have to stay true to what I do\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Matt Parkinson made his debut for T20 in November 2019 and his ODI debut at the start of the 2020. Matt Parkinson has all total picked up five wickets in the T20Is so far.<\/p>\n
