Before retiring in 2013, Ferguson had a remarkable career, winning many trophies.<\/p>\n<p data-private=\"redact\" data-wt-guid=\"c9df8654-0882-464e-8f8b-ccb085056725\">However, he did not receive a medal when he led Aberdeen to victory in the Cup Winners\u2019 Cup in Gothenburg in 1983. In accordance with UEFA regulations at the time, only the starting XI and five substitutes were eligible to receive medals. He will receive one of six extra medals at a ceremony at Pittodrie on May 12. Archie Knox, Ferguson\u2019s assistant, will also receive a medal and midfielder Dougie Bell, who was injured during the final.<\/p>\n<p data-private=\"redact\" data-wt-guid=\"4d019257-7c4d-4978-b686-e6516577fb80\">Ferguson said about receiving the medal: \u2018It\u2019s a great honour to receive it, and I am grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this happen. Their efforts, along with Uefa\u2019s cooperation, are much appreciated.
