Sandesh Jhingan, whose contract with BFC winds up at the end of the season, was in talks for an extension. He has been replaced by an experienced central defender as the club looks for a replacement. It was discussed that several names would be considered initially. However, Goa quickly concluded the negotiations when Jhingan, who plays for Bengaluru FC, became available.
