Zlatan Ibrahimovic has received a knee operation and is forced to miss close to eight months with AC Milan. Milan disclosed today that Zlatan Ibrahimovic received keyhole knee surgery earlier and would be sidelined for seven to eight months.\u00a0<\/span>The 40-year-old had treatment today at Lyon\u2019s H\u00f4pital Jean Mermoz, per the Serie A champs.<\/p>\n

Under the supervision of the team\u2019s chief doctor, Stefano Mazzoni, Doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet completed the procedure. Milan claimed the operation was arranged months ago and that the forward won\u2019t be returning to play for another seven to eight months. Ibrahimovic has suffered injuries this campaign, missing 18 matches due to physical difficulties.<\/span><\/p>\n

He made his start in the second period of Milan\u2019s 3-0 triumph against Sassuolo on Sunday, which secured the Rossoneri their 19th Serie A crown and first in 11 years. Ibra joined Milan in January 2020 during two periods with the Rossoneri, netting 92 strikes in 159 outings. In June, his tenure at San Siro finishes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Injury disrupted Ibrahimovic\u2019s 2021\/22 campaign, however, the Swede still contrived to register 23 Serie A outings for Milan and hit eight goals, helping the Rossoneri earn their first Scudetto since 2010\/11.\u201cThe operation was perfectly successful and the prognosis is estimated at 7-8 months.\u201d read the statement issued by AC Milan. <\/span><\/p>\n

Following a 3-0 victory versus Sassuolo on Sunday, AC Milan celebrated the first-ever Serie A crown in 11 years, and the town of Milan was overwhelmed with red-and-black spectators. Well before the Rossoneri won their 19th scudetto, tens of hundreds of fans dressed in club colours gathered in Milan\u2019s Piazza del Duomo, next to the historic cathedral. <\/span><\/p>\n

And that it was the player who excels in big moments who enhanced Milan\u2019s victory, as veteran striker Olivier Giroud found the net to put his team ahead. All three first-half strikes were set up by Rafael Leo. After the victory, the 22-year-old Leo was handed the Serie A Player of the Season honour.<\/span><\/p>\n

Milan hasn\u2019t achieved the crown in 11 years, with the team facing financial hardships off the field and a tumble from favour on it. They slipped to the middle of the standings, falling as far as 10th in the 2014-15 campaign, and were out of European play for several years. <\/span><\/p>\n
