England\u2019s Ben Stokes has withdrawn from the ongoing Test series against Pakistan owing to family reasons, the ECB announced on Sunday. The current number 1 all-rounder in the world, and world cup hero has been in the best phase of his career. Following the Headingley test against Australia, Stokes has simply been unstoppable. After formidable form shown in the world cup, Stokes went on to cement his place as one of the best all-rounders in the world. However, owing to family reasons, Ben Stokes will be flying to Christchurch, where his parents live, later this week.<\/p>\n
Stokes\u2019 father Ged \u2013 a former rugby league international \u2013 was hospitalised days ahead of England\u2019s Boxing Day Test against South Africa in in December last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cEngland all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the remainder of the #raisethebat Test series against Pakistan for family reasons,\u201d a statement from the ECB read.<\/p>\n
\u201cStokes will leave the UK later this week and travel to New Zealand. He will miss England\u2019s two Test matches against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl starting on Thursday 13 August and Friday 21 August.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe England and Wales Cricket Board, along with the Stokes family, requests that all media respects the family\u2019s privacy at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stokes, who was born in New Zealand, has featured in England\u2019s all four Tests this summer. He captained England in the first of the three Tests against West Indies and followed it with a Player-of-the-Match worthy performance in the second Test in Manchester, hitting 176 and 78 with the bat and picking up three wickets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
