Jimmy was a Tottenham Hotspur legend having scored 220 goals in 321 league games for the Lilywhites as he served them for 9 years that ran from 1961 to 1970. Jimmy passed away at home in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 19 September), aged 81.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>During the 1962\/1963 season, Jimmy Greaves scored 37 league goals which to date remains the highest by any player in a single season for the mighty Spurs. Jimmy was also a squad member of the famous 1966 World Cup-winning England team which is still the one World Cup the Englishmen hold. He has scored 44 goals in his 57 senior national team appearances with 42 of those caps while being a Tottenham player.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy was also a player of Chelsea Football Club where he rose the ranks as an academy player to make 157 appearances and scoring 124 goals from 1957 to 1961. Both Spurs and Chelsea are due to play later today in the Premier League.
